Meet with a Lawyer for a one-on-one consultation.
The Rockford Public Library and Prairie State Legal Services of Illinois are partnering to present legal advice for residents of Rockford. A lawyer from Priarie State Legal Services will be onsite at the library for a one-on-one meetings. Meetings can be scheduled ahead of time, by calling 815-965-2902. Walk-ins will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis.
Prairie State Legal’s mission is to ensure equal access to justice and fair treatment under the law by providing legal advice and representation, advocacy, education, and outreach to protect basic human needs and enforce or uphold rights. Their Rockford Office, located at 303 N. Main St., Suite 600, serves Boone, Carroll, Jo Daviess, Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago counties. It is one of 12 Prairie State office locations throughout Northern and Central Illinois that provide free legal services to low income persons, victims of domestic violence and those age 60 and over who have serious civil legal problems and need legal help to solve them.

The 36,000 sq.ft. Hart Interim Library opened Dec. 2, 2017 and serves as the Rockford Public Library’s main downtown facility. The newly renovated space boasts a 2nd story Children’s Area with dedicated computer lab, Read, Play, Learn program room, and creative play space, a Maker Lab with access to 3D printers and scanners and small board computers a sizable Young Adult Zone with gaming center, adult computer lab, local history room, and 5 private meeting and study rooms accommodating groups of 2-8 people.
