The NAAC (Native American Awareness Committee) and RPL present 6 days of Summer 2023. Each branch will consist of an interactive Story/Craft day to promote awareness of local indigenous contributions.

The NAAC and RPL team up to bring you an enlightened experience.

Join us for a FREE educational space where all questions are welcome and absorb a unique perspective on Indigenous cultures. 

Bring your friends, family, and neighbors. Sit back and enjoy while the NAAC brings you culture awareness through the art of storytelling and crafts.  

The NAAC Mission Statement is 

Promoting awareness of the Indigenous Native American cultures (past, present, and future) and preservation of Native Historical sites by means of education and presentations enhancing inclusive communities.

June 22nd- Storytelling at Montague In the Connie Lane Room

June 30th - Storytelling With a Craft included at Hart in the Read Play Learn Room.   

July 12th- Storytelling With a Craft included at East Friends of RPL Community Room

July 19th - Storytelling, at the Nordlof's J.R. Sullivan Theater

August 2nd- Storytelling At East Friends of RPL Community Room

August 10th- Storytelling with a craft included at Montague in the Connie Lane Room

About the library

Officially opened on May 24, 1923, the Montague Branch Library is the Library’s oldest existing branch library facility. Located on the corner of Winnebago and Montague Streets, this branch serves people living on the south and west sides of Rockford. The two-story brick building has been lovingly restored and contains many of the original oak bookcases and a fireplace. The Montague Branch offers an expanded children’s space including a dedicated play room, a wireless computer area, a classroom and the Constance V. Lane Community Room.
