Crocheting is a delightful and relaxing hobby that allows you to create beautiful and functional items with just a hook and some yarn. We are making Super Thick and Warm Hat

These events bring together crochet enthusiasts of all levels to work on the same project simultaneously, sharing progress, tips, and encouragement along the way.

This highly textured, super thick and warm hat can be made in less than an hour and the pattern is easily
adjustable for smaller or larger sizes


MATERIALS NEEDED
• Lion Brand Yarns Wool-Ease Thick & Quick, super
bulky #6 yarn (106yds/97m per 6oz/170g) 80%
acrylic, 20% wool, Spice color used.
• Approx. 85 yds needed
• US Size N (10mm) crochet hook
• Yarn needle
• Scissors
• Stitch marker (optional)
• Faux fur pom pom (optional)

SKILL LEVEL
Advanced Beginner/Intermediate
FINISHED MEASUREMENT
9” wide brim x 9-1/2” height when laying flat
STITCHES USED
• ch – chain
• st - stitch
• slst – slip stitch
• sc – single crochet
• scBLO– single crochet in the back loop only
• dc – double crochet
• FPdc – front post double crochet
GAUGE
• 7 dc x 4 rows = 4” x 4” square
NOTES
• Similar super bulky #6 weight yarn may be substituted, but make sure to check gauge for accuracy.
• The hat is worked in connected rounds from top to bottom, creating a seamless look.
• Pattern will fit most teens or adults.

About the library

The 66,000 sq.ft. Main Library opened in spring of 2024 and serves as the Rockford Public Library's main downtown facility. The newly constructed space boasts a 1st floor Children's Area complete with a dedicated computer lab, three program rooms, play structure with slide, and baby garden, a Maker Lab with access to 3D printers and scanners and small board computers, podcasting room, green screen video room, a large Young Adult Zone with gaming center, adult computer lab, local history room, and several meeting and study rooms accommodating groups of 2-8 people. Additional features include a large interactive screen, two roof-top terraces, one of which is available for rent as part of our large event space on the third floor, underground parking, and drive-thru book drop holds pickup!
