Join us for a Presentation and Exhibit celebrating the Architectural History of Rockford Public Library.
The Rockford Public Library [RPL] invites the community to attend "From Carnegie to Contemporary, Exploring RPL’s Architectural Odyssey” a captivating presentation and exhibit chronicling the architectural evolution of our beloved institution.
Presentation Highlights will include:
Our distinguished speaker, Gary W. Anderson, Founding Architect at Studio GWA and renowned local architectural historian, will share his expertise and insights on the architectural designs and development of each building throughout the Library's history.
In addition to the library-specific content, this presentation will offer information about historic preservation regulatory compliance, a bit about the federal tax credit program for historic preservation, and other preservation success stories in Rockford.
The presentation will be held in Rooms 334, 335, & 336: Meetings Rooms A-C & 3rd Floor Terrace
Special Exhibit:
The presentation will feature two designed panels showcasing the original Carnegie library, its design architects, the modernization of the library in the 1960s, and subsequent changes made to the building during the 1980s. These panels will be displayed as an exhibit in the 3rd Floor Terrace Gallery through November, allowing visitors to explore the Library's architectural history at their leisure.
