Join us Tuesday, October 6th in quiet celebration of free speech, intellectual freedom, and the right to read! In recognition of Banned Books Week (October 4-10, 2026), East Branch will host a read-in starting at 2:30pm. Bring your favorite Banned Book to read, or choose one from our display to enjoy! We'll read silently as a group and learn about Censorship by the Numbers as reported by the American Library Association.

Come visit the East Branch, located in the former Barnes & Noble building on East State St. The East Branch offers a 65-seat meeting room, free Wi-Fi, quiet study rooms, special areas for children and adults, and an expanded collection of books and media, as well as a Friends of RPL book shop.
